Highly specific and sensitive serological autoimmune markers such as IgA anti-endomysial (EMA) and IgA tissue transglutaminase (tTg) are now used for routine screening of CD; enabling the identification of ‘silent’ and ‘atypical’ forms which do not express the ‘classical’ features of symptomatic CD [3].
