PTGS2 and diabetic neuropathy: Some of the major pathways like polyol pathway [5], advanced glycation end products [6], hexosamine flux [7], mitogen-activated protein kinases [8], altered activity of Na+/K+-ATPase [9], poly-ADP ribose polymerase (PARP) over activation [10], and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activation [11] have been reported to play a crucial role in development and progression of diabetic neuropathy (Figure 1).
