When mast cells are activated by allergens bound to IgE-FcεRI on the cell surface, they release histamine and mast cell granule proteins as well as a wide variety of pro-inflammatory mediators such as interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, which may exacerbate allergic diseases [5,6].
