Similar to low grade serous carcinomas, mucinous carcinoma and adjacent MBT and mucinous cystadenoma show the same KRAS mutation, supporting the hypothesis of the “adenoma-carcinoma sequence” [67, 68] and the view that mucinous carcinomas develop in a stepwise fashion from mucinous cystadenomas and MBTs. This evidence concerns the gene KRAS and mucinous adenocarcinoma.
