The observation that distinctive mutations in mismatch repair genes hMLH1 and hMSH2 (10), high microsatellite instability (MSI-H), and unique polymorphisms in the p53 tumor suppressor gene (11) are more prevalent in AA colon cancers than in CA colon cancers, lend support to the concept that biological differences between AA and CA tumors may contribute to increased mortality in AA patients. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and colonic neoplasm.
