A subsequent analysis of the expression of different kinases in MPT cells showed that, although there were no consistent changes in Akt signaling, Erk1/2 phosphorylation was consistently reduced in pim1 knock-down cells compared to the corresponding control cells (although the stable overexpression of pim1 in prostate cancer cells did not alter Erk phosphorylation). This evidence concerns the gene PIM1 and prostate carcinoma.
