The lack of uniformity in the definitionof PCOS and hyperhomocysteinemia as wellas information on other cofactors such as BMI, fatdistribution, and insulin sensitivity can explain thedifferences between our findings and other studies.To limit the potential confounding effect ofdisparate BMI between PCOS cases and controls,we adjusted for these differences in whole-groupcomparisons.
