Thus a decrease in RANTES expression by endocervical epithelial cells, as we show for MPA but not NET, with a potency of 5 nM, could increase HIV-1 infection of CD4+ T cellsin vivo. Interestingly, MPA shows the greatest efficacy for RANTES mRNA repression, acting like a full GR agonist. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is HIV-1 infection.
