Mechanistically, the EZH2-NDY1/KDM2B-JARID2 axis downregulates GFI1, a repressor of the HCMV major-immediate-early promoter (MIEP) and inhibition of this axis upregulates GFI1 and interferes with the activation of the MIEP and HCMV infection. This evidence concerns the gene GFI1 and cytomegalovirus infection.
