Literature demonstrates TRPA1 receptor expression in the esophagus and simultaneous presence of inflammatory mediators that are known to be either TRPA1 sensitizers - histamine, bradykinin, PGE2 or TRPA1 activators - 4-Hydroxynonenal (4-HNE), reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), 15d-PGJ2 in the esophagus during GERD [17]. This evidence concerns the gene TRPA1 and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
