Indeed, we previously reported that in mice, augmented blood AIM level along with progression of obesity (5∼7 times higher compared to that in lean mice) induces a high level of lipolysis and efflux of large amounts of fatty acids from adipocytes that stimulate toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) expressed on the adipocytes [36]. The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
