More importantly, evidence provided in this report supports the proposal that increased Orai1-SOCE-intracellular Ca2+ oscillations serve to signal activation of downstream pathways that stimulate the proliferation and migration of ESCC cells, enhance their capacity to invade other tissues, and promote ESCC tumor formation and growth in vitro and in vivo.
