Multiple studies using mice deficient in different components of the NLRP3 inflammasome (NLRP3 and caspase-1) have consistently shown that loss of the NLRP3 inflammasome decreases HFD-induced hepatic steatosis and inflammation (113) and improves systemic insulin sensitivity (12, 13, 114, 115). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and fatty liver disease.
