Agha et al. analyzed HP-axis deficiencies in adults treated with radiotherapy for non-pituitary brain tumors and found that mild to moderate hyperprolactinemia occurred at a shorter median time (33 months) in comparison to GH, ACTH, or gonadotropin deficiency (100 months), possibly reflecting an earlier manifestation of hypothalamic dysfunction in comparison to pituitary dysfunction (18). This evidence concerns the gene POMC and hyperprolactinemia.
