The present in vitro study has shown that the TNF family member LIGHT could significantly promote the cell surface expression of adhesion molecule ICAM-1, the release of airway-remodeling cytokine IL-6, chemokine CXCL8, and extracellular protease MMP-9 from human bronchial epithelial cells upon the interaction with asthma-related basophils or eosinophils. This evidence concerns the gene TNFSF14 and asthma.
