Mounting evidence from literature suggests that HHcy is the cause for endothelial dysfunction (Van den Berg et al. 1995; Chambers et al. 1999; Fu et al. 2002), mesenteric artery remodeling and hypertension with robust elevation of metalloproteinase‐ 9 (MMP9) activity, significant collagen deposition, severe loss of elastin, eNOS, and endothelial nitric oxide down regulation (Munjal et al. 2011). This evidence concerns the gene NOS3 and endothelial dysfunction.
