A series of characterized VDR gene polymorphisms, including Fok1 (rs2228570) [9]–[24], a poly-adenosine (poly-A) repeat variant [10], [19], [22], [25]–[27], Bsm1 (rs1544410) [10], [11], [13], [15]–[17], [19]–[22], [24], [25], [28]–[33], Taq1 (rs731236) [9], [12]–[14], [17], [18], [24], [26], [29], [30], [34]–[38] and Apa1 (rs7975232) [9], [13], [17], [18], [24], [29], [36], [38]–[40], have been extensively studied with regard to their association with breast cancer risk, but with conflicting results.
