EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma: In patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC without certain cytogenetic abnormalities (e.g. epidermal growth factor receptor [EGFR] mutations, anaplastic lymphoma kinase [ALK] translocations), platinum-based doublet chemotherapy remains the standard of care, albeit with modest efficacy [3], necessitating the search for additional treatment approaches to improve clinical outcomes.
