Recent genome-wide differential gene expression and RT-PCR studies show that MALAT1 decreases the expression of the anti-metastatic MIA2 (melanoma inhibitory activity 2) and ROBO1 (roundabout 1), and up-regulates the expression of the pro-metastatic GPC6 (glypican 6), LPHN2 (latrophilin 2), CDCP1 (CUB domain containing protein 1) and ABCA1 (ATP-binding cassette, sub-family A, member 1) in lung cancer cells [13]. This evidence concerns the gene MALAT1 and lung carcinoma.
