As the Block 2 region of PvMSP1 has been considered a promising new candidate for the development of a malaria vaccine, as it is a target of protective immunity against P. vivax [14, 15], the existence of same MSP1 Block 2 haplotypes in different malaria endemic areas will be important for the rationale of malaria vaccine designs. The gene discussed is ATAD1; the disease is malaria.
