O'Gorman et al. when studied the increase of induced glucose uptake by exercise in obese individuals with type 2 diabetes reported that an acute bout of exercise for 1 hour to 75% of VO2peak, done in stationary bicycle, was enough to increase sensibility to insulin in those individuals.(24) However, after seven bouts of exercise with the same volume and intensity of acute bout of exercise, researchers observed increases in glucose uptake by the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp test and expression of type 4 glucose transporter (GLUT4) in obese patients with type 2 diabetes. Here, SLC2A4 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
