CTNNA2 encodes for catenin (cadherin-associated protein), alpha 2 which functions as a linker between cadherin adhesion receptors and the cytoskeleton to regulate cell-cell adhesion, predominantly in the central nervous system, and it has been associated with late onset Alzheimer’s disease [28]. The gene discussed is CTNNA2; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
