BECN1 and lung adenocarcinoma: The mammalian autophagy gene BECN1/Beclin 1 is frequently monoallelically deleted in many cancers, including human ovarian, breast, and prostate cancers, and mice with allelic loss of BECN1 are more likely to develop hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), lung adenocarcinomas, lymphomas, and mammary hyperplasia [4, 5].
