Recent studies demonstrate that a population of glioma stem-like cells (GSCs) transdifferentiate into vascular endothelial cells (ECs) within glioma, possibly via an intermediate endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), which may provide new perspectives on the mechanisms of the resistance to anti-VEGF therapy currently in use [9, 10]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
