These observations suggest that the glomerular phenotype is the consequence of a unique role of TRPC6 in the organization of the filtration apparatus or a susceptibility of this structure to the dynamic regulation of the cytoskeleton, since patients with FSGS presenting trpc6 mutations do not usually have any other pathological phenotypes [109, 110]. The gene discussed is TRPC6; the disease is focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
