GNRH1 and polycystic ovary syndrome: Interestingly, allopregnanolone increases in response to both adrenocorticotropic hormone and GnRH[78], implicating both the adrenals and ovaries in its production; however, adrenocorticotropic hormone-stimulated allopregnanolone levels are decreased in women with PCOS[79], suggesting dysregulation of allopregnanolone in this population.
