In a Japanese retrospective analysis of predictors of long-term survival among 71 patients with surgically resected NSCLC of adenocarcinoma or squamous histology, mean bFGF levels were significantly higher in cases of metastatic nodal involvement and high levels were most strongly correlated with poor prognosis in patients also exhibiting high VEGF levels (P < 0.0001) 42. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
