Results from a report by Meschini et al., confirmed that vocamine, a bisindolic alkaloid from Peschiera fuchsiaefolia in combination with doxorubicin, could not only overcome the resistance of resistant osteosarcoma cells by competitively inhibiting P-glycoprotein (P-gp)/ABCB1, a 170 KD protein encoded by MDR1 gene, but also lead them to autophagic cell death [16]. This evidence concerns the gene ABCB1 and osteosarcoma.
