Because our data suggested that the absence of miR-375 in HPV-positive cancer cells leads to uncontrolled expression of miR-375 targets (HPV transcripts, E6AP, and CIP2A) and downstream molecules (p53, p21, RB, and MYC), we used siRNAs to silence individual miR-375 targets and examined their relative importance. The gene discussed is CIP2A; the disease is cancer.
