IL17A and multiple sclerosis: Furthermore, inappropriate or excessive production of IL-17A is associated with the pathology of various other diseases and disorders, and therefore, much effort has been invested by the pharmaceutical industry to identify molecules capable of inhibiting the detrimental effects of IL-17A, some of which are currently being tested in clinical trials for different inflammatory conditions (22, 23) such as Crohn's disease, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, multiple sclerosis, and polymyalgia rheumatica (www.clinicaltrials.gov).
