ADAM8 and cancer: As a final consideration we note that in 2011, the same group (which concluded in 2004 that DCIS patients have significantly elevated urinary ADAM 12 vs. controls) has conducted another study (utilizing fluorescent metalloproteinase substrates) to simultaneously detect a number of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-1, -2, -3, -8, -9, and -13) and ADAMs (ADAM-8, -9, -10, -12, and -17) in the urine of cancer patients and age-matched controls.
