Several N-glycoproteins differentially expressed in some cancerous diseases have been reported, including the following: (1) upregulation of alpha-1-antichymotrypsin in both non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [53, 54], (2) upregulation of galectin-3-binding protein (Gal3BP or Mac-2 BP) in both HCC and ovarian cancer [55, 56], (3) downregulation of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 in HCC and NSCLC [54, 56], and (4) increased expression of periostin in aggressive prostate cancer [57] and most ovarian cancer subtypes [55]. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3BP and hepatocellular carcinoma.
