Whereas the TERT rs2853676 variant was only nominally associated with overall lung cancer (P = .001) (Supplementary Table 3, available online), a statistically significant association with adenocarcinoma (OR = 1.16; 95% CI = 1.10 to 1.22; P = 1.1×10–8) was observed among 5164 patients and 38567 control subjects (Figure 3; Supplementary Table 5 and Supplementary Figure 1A, available online). This evidence concerns the gene TERT and adenocarcinoma.
