The allelic frequencies of these specific polymorphisms in the APOE, MTHFR and ACE genes substantially varies in different regions of the world and among ethnic groups [3,19,25,26] and have not yet been studied in the Zambian population, hence, association of them with stroke, CAD, AD, and other common non-communicable diseases in this population is unclear. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and Alzheimer disease.
