PPBP and infection: Four days after infection, BAL HNP 1–3 and elafin were significantly higher in asthmatics compared with controls (1.4 (0.7) vs. 0.7 (0.4) ng/mL, P = 0.035, 1595.6 (791.4) vs. 823.7 (587.4–1302.1) ng/mL, P = 0.048, respectively, Fig. 1), while BAL CXCL7/NAP‐2 was significantly higher in controls compared with asthmatics (102.7 (45.2–213.9) vs. 45.8 (16.2), P = 0.025, Fig. 1).
