Wnts also can activate the retinoid-related orphan receptor alpha, RORA, which has been implicated by GWAS in several neuropsychiatric diseases, including autism (Nguyen et al., 2010; Sarachana and Hu, 2013), bipolar disorder (Le-Niculescu et al., 2009; but see McGrath et al., 2009), depression (Terracciano et al., 2010; Utge et al., 2010), and PTSD (Logue et al., 2013). The gene discussed is RORA; the disease is major depressive disorder.
