Figure 1 shows an example of 3 cancer-relevant genes (Figure 1A), CDKN2A encoding the Cyclin-Dependent Kinase Inhibitor 2A (p16INK4a, p19ARF), which is commonly deleted in cancers, CCNE1 encoding Cyclin E, which is commonly amplified in cancers, and KRAS encoding Kirsten Rat Sarcoma Viral Oncogene, which is activated in cancers by mutations and more rarely amplification. Panels B and C (Figure 1) show that many cell lines exhibit depletion of the CDKN2A locus (left panels), while ovarian cancer cells OVCAR3 and OVCAR5 show focal amplification of CCNE1 and KRAS, respectively. This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and ovarian carcinoma.
