Interestingly, earlier studies have shown that 1,25(OH)2D3 can suppress the release of TNF-α[30], the expression of IL-8 in human periodontal ligament cells stimulated with Porphyromonas gingivalis, associated with chronic periodontitis[31], LPS-stimulated IL-6 protein and mRNA synthesis in two human adipocyte models via interference with NF-κB signaling[28]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and chronic periodontitis.
