A significant higher percentage of subjects (52%) in the group A had an HbA1c goal of ≤ 7% at the end of study compared with (30%) in the group B, reflecting the greater mean reduction in the HbA1c observed in the group A. Furthermore, adding glimepiride also remarkably decreased insulin doses and offered clear advantages in terms of a reduction in the incidence of hypoglycemia and no weight gain.
