Neutrophilic asthma is driven by the chemokine CXCL8 (IL-8) [3]; thus studies into the molecular pathways that upregulate this neutrophil chemoattractant will allow us to gain greater insight into the underlying pathogenic mechanisms and suggest potential pharmacotherapeutic strategies for treating the neutrophilic asthma endotype in the future.
