ANO1 and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: Since the overexpression of ANO1 in HNSCC and prostate tumors could stimulate cell migration (i.e., cell movement, attachment, spreading, detachment, and invasion), which could be inhibited by ANO1 channel inhibitors 33,11, and because immunohistochemistry (IHC) revealed that ANO1 overexpression was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis of ESCC and advanced clinical stage of cancers 14, ANO1 overexpression has also been considered a potential marker for distant metastasis of cancers.
