Following enrichment, isolated CTCs from metastatic breast, prostate, and lung cancers have been examined by FISH (either on-platform or after being cytospun onto charged glass slides) for several common genomic aberrations and amplifications including HER2 [38,39,51,52,68,70,75], anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) [67,69], phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) [73], androgen receptor [40,71,73], EGFR [38,40], and TMPRSS2:ERG (transmembrane protease serine 2:ETS-related gene) fusions [72]. This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and lung cancer.
