These results conclusively prove that ENLE induces cell death in these cells mediated by the apoptotic pathway which are in agreement with previous studies that demonstrated apoptosis induction through various mechanisms such as inhibiting PI3 K/Akt pathway, decrease in Bcl-2/Bax ratio with increased expression of Apaf-1 and caspase-3, and cleavage of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase was the mode of cell death induced by neem or its derivatives such as nimbolide in various cancers [6, 11, 14–16, 35–37, 42].
