In this context it is of interest, that a single injection of an IL1β inhibitor immediately after ligation in a non-reperfused infarction model attenuated the collagen accumulation in the infarcted area [74], indicating that the timing and duration of intervention with regard to IL1β is a key determinant of outcome [75].Another relevant finding from our study is that fibroblasts from different origins (in our case lung and skin) do not always behave identical towards IL1β. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and infarction.
