CRP and bacterial infectious disease: Patients who were excluded (n = 81) did not differ significantly regarding age, immune-compromising disorder, H1N1 status, bacterial infection rate or CRP level (all P > 0.05); however, compared to patients who were included, the excluded group had a higher ratio of women, with borderline statistical significance (60% vs. 46%; P = 0.03), and a lower ratio of antibiotics given before ICU admission (19% vs. 38%; P = 0.004).
