Based on current data, we postulate that Cav1 deficiency not only results in leanness found in Cav1-deficient rodents but also followed by impaired sex hormone-dependent metabolic regulations in adipose tissue, thereby leading to abnormalities in lipid metabolism, insulin resistance, hypertriglyceridemia, and dysregulated non-shivering thermogenesis. Here, INS is linked to hypertriglyceridemia.
