Futamatsu et al (48) reported that HGF suppressed T-cell proliferation and IFN-γ production and increased IL-4 and IL-10 secretion from CD4+ T cells in vitro, and also reduced the severity of experimental autoimmune myocarditis in vivo by inducing Th2 cytokines and suppressing apoptosis of cardiomyocytes. The gene discussed is HGF; the disease is autoimmune myocarditis.
