Bet et al. (33) demonstrated in a longitudinal aging study conducted in the Netherlands in individuals aged 55–85 years that the 22/23EK and 9beta polymorphisms in the GR gene interacted with life events and adversities during youth, including war experiences, sexual abuse, parental loss, or physical illness in the prediction of clinically relevant depression. The gene discussed is NR3C1; the disease is depressive disorder.
