Recently, a systematic review and bayesian network meta-analysis comparing the effectiveness of renin-angiotensin system blockers and other antihypertensive drugs in patients with diabetes, have concluded that the reno-protective effects and superiority of using ACE inhibitors in patients with DM2, and also that the available evidence is not able to show a better effect for ARBs compared with angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and myotonic dystrophy type 2.
