Furthermore, we were able to elicit strong positive correlations between SOCS-3 and HIF-1a, p65/RelA and p53 in RCC recapitulating recently published evidence that HIF-1a functions as an important regulator of SOCS-3 in glioma cells [43] and that SOCS-3 overexpression enhances p53 phosphorylation in pleural mesothelioma cells by inhibiting its degradation [44].
